Mike Loder

At the 2015 International Comedy Festival Mike Loder showed why he is one of New Zealand's top corporate comedians.

Mike began his comedy career in 1995 at New Zealand's only regular stand-up venue Kitty O'Brians comedy club in Auckland. Hungry for stage time, he was soon a festival veteran and touring up to 20 theatre events a year in a half dozen countries.

Since then he has performed thousands of shows to both critical acclaim and belly laughing punters. Mike promotes several long running showcase nights around the country. Including ‘Southside Comedy’ – 2011 being its 6th year with over sixty top Kiwi acts now having appeared.

In 2001 Mike recorded his first comedy release Stingray at Auckland's Powerstation venue under his Punchline label. In 2002 he released his second comedy CD - Live at the Covert. Recorded at the Covert Improv Theatre.

These were the world’s first ‘enhanced’ comedy CDs with video and interactive features.

A founding member of the NZ Comedy Guild Mike was also a regular host at Auckland's full-time comedy club The Classic from its inception.

During this time Mike was a featured performer on the popular Pulp Comedy TV show for several years. His rapid fire sets also always making the TV cut of the Comedy Festival Gala nights.

He has written and performed comedy material for numerous other radio and television shows. Mike was commissioned to help develop a new sitcom and has also developed a comedy serial for morning radio. From concept to script and final voicework.

Mike is a regular panelist on comedy news shows, as a radio commentator and now specialises in comedy solutions for business and corporate entertainment.

He published his first book The Guide in 2008. Mike’s second novel ‘The Tower’ was released in 2012. His first love remains appearing on the stand-up circuit and writing in the third person.

Interesting note: Mike performed the first joke of the new millennium – the government still has yet to release a commemorating stamp..
